Sunday 3 June 2018: Pennepack Day Celebration “Celebrating our Welsh Heritage”

Sunday, 3 June, 2018
Pennepack Baptist Church holds its annual Pennepack Day Celebration our 1688 founding on the first Sunday in June each year.  This year’s Pennepack Day, our 330th Anniversary, will be held Sunday, June 3 at the 1805 Meetinghouse and ancient Burial Ground (first burial 1692) at 8732 Krewstown Rd 19115, in NE Philadelphia.   The theme this year is “Celebrating Our Welsh Heritage”.
Of the twelve charter members at the 1688 establishment of the church, five were baptized members of the Dolau Baptist Church at Nantwel, Radnorshire, Wales: Sarah Eaton, her brothers John and George Eaton, George’s wife Jane,  and Samuel Jones.  They arrived in Philadelphia in Nov 1683 and were settled on Pennypack Creek by early 1684.  They were the immediate and continuing driving force of Pennepack Baptist Church.  Our Welsh heritage is deeply appreciated and acknowledged.
