The Welsh Society of Philadelphia awarded ten scholarships in 2020

Raegan Davies
Hackettstown, New Jersey
Raegan, shown here with her brother Shayne and family dog Jethro, is a senior at St. Joseph's University majoring in Theater with a minor in English. Raegan's father, Kevin Davies, is from Neath, South Wales.

Shayne Davies
Hackettstown, New Jersey
Shayne is studying communications and specializing in Broadcasting at Centenary University. Shayne's father, Kevin Davies, is from Neath, South Wales.

Georgia Evans
Haverford, Pennsylvania
Georgia, a drama student at New York University's Tisch School is pursuing a B.F.A. Georgia's family are from Neath, South Wales and Georgia has spent many summers in Wales. Welsh Cakes, Bara Brith and Cawl are firm favorites.

Teigan Marie Landsfield
Milford, Connecticut
As long as she can remember, Teigan, has wanted to be an actress and has been accepted to the Gallatin School of Independent Study at New York University, and will be taking acting classes from the Tisch School of Arts. Teigan's great, great grandfather was a coal miner from. Tonypandy who arrived in America in the late 1800s.

Leah Lewis
Media, Pennsylvania
Leah is studying at Temple University, Class of 2021, for a Batchelor of Arts Degree, majoring in Environmental Studies with a Political Science Minor. Leah's father, Simon, and most of her grandparents were born near Cardiff, Wales. Leah spent part of last year studying at The University of East Anglia.

Kessa Morris
Dublin, Pennsylvania
Kessa is a studying for a B.A. in Mass Communication at Bloomsburg University. Kessa's 8th great grandfather, Cadwalader Morris, arrived in America in the 1600s. Cadwalader married Elizabeth Morgan whose parents' home was The Morgan Log House which still stands in Kulpsville, PA.

Graeme Newcombe
Wilmington Delaware
Graeme has frequently visited his father's hometown of Swansea, Wales. Although Graeme has a deep love for Rugby he will play Division One Soccer at Drexel University, where he is Majoring in Biology with a view to Pre Med.

Jacelyn Rudderow
Pedericktown, New Jersey
Jacelyn is a junior at Iowa State University studying Biological Systems Engineering. Jacelyn's ancestor was John Rhydderch, born in 1655 in Himant, Montgomeryshire, Wales. John Rhydderych, a Quaker, emigrated to the New Jersey Colony in 1680.

Megan Stanton
Cicero, New York
Megan is studying to be a Social Studies teacher at Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Megan's great grandparents were from North Wales. Her great grandfather, Thomas Lewis, emigrated to America in 1923 initially living in Wilkes-Barre.

Megan Striff-Cave
Hartford, Connecticut
Megan is studying Political Science at The University of Pennsylvania. Megan shared that her favorite fun fact is that she is "Welsh and that yes, Wales is a country-and an amazing one too!" Megan was born in Cardiff, Wales and would love to hold a Government office and aspires to "create policies that will make a difference for the American people".
